As far as I know, the basic idea for this comic came from my friend Cody Hubbard and myself constantly using the phrase "the same thing happened to me last week" whenever something ridiculous happened in a movie. So basically, I just made up an insane story for Yaka to tell that would give Waka the opportunity to use the phrase. As for what inspired the story that Yaka tells, I think there were stories on the news at the time about a guy who was trapped on a mountain. I'm pretty sure he wasn't rescued by wolves though...although that would've been pretty sweet.
